Chapter 7 of the ISRC will hold an ISRC Chapter Advisory Board Meeting on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Schneck Medical Center at noon.
As 2019 rolls along in Indiana, we have changes to deal with. The Breathe Act for RT reimbursement with telemedicine needs final approval for enactment. With changes occurring, we seek Chapter representation for Chapters 1 and 4. Look to how you may serve the ISRC in 2019 and 2020 and beyond.

Franciscan Health Indy climbers were again successful raising funds to help breathing causes for the ALA. One RT (John Murphy) and 2 Pulmonologists (Faisal Khan and Sarfraz Ahmed) were on the team with several other nurses, physicians and other staff. Community Health had a team with RT Informatics Ricki Shepard, RRT leading the climb, enjoying the day, the climb, and the preceding Boot camp at NIFS.
When the Board of Directors last met, we hosted some students one of which was Robert Branch from IRTEC. I asked Robert about engagement with our society newsletter, “The Pulmonary Press” and invited contribution. I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the arduous activity and collaboration between Robert and other authors with a virtual reality company to produce a deep breathing application to help calm users or viewers of this work. The app is called “The Lotus Pond – A Calm Experience trailer” and was an idea of Robert’s to help people breathe deeply.
Chapter 7 Teddy Bear Clinic for children to raise awareness about asthma, pneumonia, respiratory therapy, and more. It was a great and fun event in our Chapter.
Chapter 1 was able to celebrate a notable retirement at the Franciscan Health Crown Point hospital facility on March 29. Georgene Paulauski, RRT was manager there and worked for 43 years before saying goodbye.
Lake County Partners and local students recognized World No Tobacco Day this year with Mike Meska, our ISRC Chapter 1 Senior Director.
