Vicky Hicks

Bloomington Hospital lost a cherished employee on Wednesday, June 5. Vicky Hicks was an employee for over 27 years in Respiratory Care, Wound Care, Sleep Lab and Pulmonary Rehab. She served as assistant director of Allied Health in the mid-70’s. She was born in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1953. and worked primarily at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. During her time in Bloomington, she was instrumental in bringing hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the Bloomington hospital. Vicky also earned the designation of certified asthma educator (AE-C). She was one of the rare RTs to be certified as such. During her career, she also worked as an instructor at Ivy Tech, influencing and shaping future generations of respiratory therapists.

Above all, Vicky will be remembered for her selflessness and unrelenting advocacy for pulmonary patients. Her kindness to all was evident. She will be missed by our Respiratory Care community.
